Program of the Festivity of St. Blaise and Dubrovnik City Day

The program for the Festivity of St. Blaise and Dubrovnik City Day begins on Thursday, January 23, and lasts for a full 18 days, concluding on Sunday, February 9. During this period, over 70 diverse religious and secular events will enrich the cultural and spiritual life of Dubrovnik.

This year’s program offers a wealth of artistic and educational content, including workshops, exhibitions, lectures, theater performances, programs for children and youth, concerts, and numerous special and traditional events that further enhance the Feast each year.

The first event of the Feast is an ecumenical prayer for Christian unity, which will take place on Thursday, January 23, at 7:00 PM in the Cathedral of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary. On the same evening, the Marin Držić Theater will host the charity concert “Festa od Klapa.”

Traditionally, on Candlemas (February 2), a ceremonial session of the City Council will be held, featuring the presentation of annual public awards to distinguished individuals, companies, institutions, and others. In the afternoon, in front of the Church of St. Blaise, the formal opening of the Feastivity will take place. The central event, the solemn Eucharistic celebration, will be held on St. Blaise’s Feast Day, Monday, February 3, at 10:00 AM in front of the Dubrovnik Cathedral.

The conclusion of the Feastivity, on Sunday, February 9, begins with the gathering of banners and pilgrims in front of the Church of St. Blaise at 8:00 AM. This is followed by the traditional pilgrimage to Gorica, where a Holy Mass will be celebrated. The closing festivities include the welcoming of the banners at Pile Gate and their procession into the City, accompanied by the Dubrovnik City Brass Band, culminating in the official closing ceremony of the Feast.

We invite all Dubrovnik residents and their guests to join this magnificent celebration, which bears witness to the city’s millennial tradition, faith, and unity.

Due to technical reasons, the play “Rumpelstiltskin” scheduled for February 8 will not be performed. Instead, on the same day at 8:00 PM on the Main Stage, the play “In Search of the Cvijeta Zuzorić” by M. Fumić, directed by Aida Bukvić, will be staged.
